Dear Mother,
What do you think of the war now? Of course I don't know how soon I will be home but it won't be very long now. I am at present at C.C.D. and expect to go to the M.G. Depot in a few days. I was on leave to Ireland and Manchester. I had 14 days and had a real good time. I will tell you all about it when I get home. Believe me! This was a happy bunch when the news came out that the armistice had been signed.
(PAGE 2)
I have had no mail at all for a long long time, but am expecting a big bunch when it does come. I went to see Brock when I was in London but he had just left hospital there the day before. You had better address my mail to the C.M.G. Depot, Seaford, Sussex until further notice.
I sure was relieved when I heard the news.
I will close for now but will try to write a good letter soon.
Love to all,
Your loving son,
Melville.
P.S: What kind of a meal is my first at home going to be? I'm going to starve myself two days before. Melville
