Dear Melville,
Was very glad I got your letter a few days ago.
Muriel wrote you a day or two ago & sent the letter to Hamilton, no doubt it will have been forwarded to you. I saw in Friday's "Mail & Empire" that your regiment had been inspected, so I suppose that means you will soon be going overseas. I wish you a pleasant voyage over, and a speedy return; I am always hoping that there may be way to arrange an honorable & lasting peace before long.

I am enclosing a cheque for $5.00 and I hope you will have just as good a time as you can with that small amount before you go away. I suppose there are always lots of things to go to in Toronto.
I think I shall send this to Oakville so when you go home on Saturday you would likely get it sooner than if I sent it to Hamilton.
