Remembrance Day

Lest we forget

Every year around Remembrance Day, the Society posts a series of banners at George's Square.

We have also created a number of exhibits covering the First World War which can be viewed online.

The George's Square Memorial and the Trafalgar Township Memorial also list honour rolls of Oakville and Trafalgar residents who served from the First World War on.

Banners

Be sure to check out our banners that will be on display in George's Square around Remembrance Day. The banners deal with conflicts that have shaped Oakville:

  • Oakville during the First World War
  • The Second World War
  • Peacekeeping
  • Oakville's role in pre-1914 conflicts

The banners were created by Greg Munz, a long-time director of the Society and former peacekeeper who served in Cyprus as a young signaller.
