Dearest Minnie

Just a few lines to day, to say I'm very sorry for sending that awful letter yesterday, but dearest I didn't mean to hurt your feelings in any way, I only want you to be happy and have a good time, like last winter, and you may be sure I would like to be down with you for a week or two, I see in the papers, that most of the rinks are going now, and with bands too. 

The soldiers have gone on a rout march this morning, and are just coming back. 

Now dearest Christmas is nearly here and I am in a fix, for really dearest I dont know what to get you, as I know you have so many nice things, so dearest I wish you would suggest something in your next letter as I do want to get you something that you havent got. 

Well dearest I will close for to day as I am expecting a letter from you so good bye dearie with fondest love from yours ever
