Thursday morning

My darling Minnie

Just a few lines to day dear, as there isnt much news to say. We were on a route march yesterday; it was the first one I have done and it was great, the march was great exercise and the day was bright and clear. 

Well dearest I sent your little present yesterday and I hope you will like it, as really dear I didn't know what you would like. I guess that girl you have the new one near is tall slender Sadie but Sadie has got the length around her which will make up for her height. I guess she is getting ready for her dearly beloved Ernest and his visit for X-mas. 

Well dearie I guess it will only be a week now to wait and it won't be long, now, as the fellows that are, going for christmas leave this afternoon, and I have to be mess orderly tomorrow, which is to wait on and see that all our red cross boys get enough to eat which is not a bad job for a day, then another fellow takes your place and so on, till it comes our turn again, but we dont have any guard work to do unless it is an Isolation case. 

Last night about half-past eleven, a man fell out of his bunk which was a top one and cut his face pretty bad and one of his ears was just hanging by skin, and we had to carry him on a stretcher over to the hospital, and had just got into bed again when another accident happened so it was about two oclock when I got settled in bed again but I suppose it serves them right if they will get drunk, and I helped another one home last evening, but dear you needn't be afraid of me taking anything like that as I think to much of you dear to make myself such an idiot.

Well dearest there really isn't any more news to day and I was so busy, that the last letter got delayed but I will write again this week to my dear little nurse, and I am looking forward to having you out at Oakville for newyears.

So will close with hopes of seeing you a week from to night and will give Bertha a surprise visit. So good bye dearie with lots of love from yours ever loving
